So this is gonna be at best a mini review, but before we even dive into this I'm gonna stress that you should just play it. It's the product of a month long game jam. It's simply not that long. There aren't branching paths to follow. This is simply a well crafted multimedia slice-of-life short story and if you've got even the barest of interest in the furry fandom, it's probably worth a read. It covers three days at a fur con. That's pretty much it. I'm planning to have this commentary be relatively spoiler free, but emphasis on relatively. This is short and you're gonna get a run down no matter how vague I try to be.
[So I repeat, just go play it.](https://keithballard.itch.io/3-days-to-live)
That being said, the barebones review. The music and art are excellent, even knowing this was made on a rather tight deadline. The simple background styles are really eye catching and the characters are all really distinct. (Let's be honest, some of the characters are very much my type and very, very nice to look at.) The music is catchy and suits the scenes really well. The writing is on the dramatic side, but also pretty grounded. They knew the story they wanted to tell and I feel like they delivered.
What I really liked about this though was that it felt pretty surprisingly grounded while being dramatic. These characters are all archetypes, but they're archetypes I've encountered. I've met these people. For better and for worse. Hell the shy one with a bit of his own contrived morality stuck up his ass I even see a little of a younger myself in. (I'd like to think I was never THAT much of an asshole. But fuck me sideways, I can see it.) That one character in particular is almost annoying well done because my read on them really did ping pong hard back and forth, and that in my opinion, took talent. In the end if you're expecting a satisfactory conclusion, well, this is how things go sometimes. Poor Swift. But hey, he'll get another chance soon right?
